HRB the human resources management system has been implemented at Pilkington. The system significantly facilitates execution of the complete human resource policy and handling of payments due to Social Security and the Tax Offices for nearly 250 employees of the glass-works.

Pilkington was looking for supplier of Human Resources & Payroll system for all of its Polish divisions. Due to its functionality and references, HRB offered by Hogart was selected. The system implemented at the glass-works supports the complete HR policy along with reports for GUS (the Polish Central Statistical Office) and processing of payments due to Social Security and the Tax Office for almost 250 employees.

HRB is directly interconnected with the banking system used by the company, and Hogart has created an electronic worksheet used for individual employee work-time accounting, tailor-made for this particular customer. Each manager fills in appropriate Excel worksheet and e-mails it to the Payroll Department, where the data is automatically retrieved and entered into the system. The complete system operates over a LAN under Windows NT operating system and uses an SQL database - providing concurrent access to three users.

The implementation at the Pilkington glass-works progressed very fast and without any problems. Good co-operation and full commitment of implementation teams allowed the implementation period to be cut-down to three months. The HRB system has replaced the legacy HR and Payroll tools that were not integrated. In Q3 2002 the HRB solution was integrated with the SAP Financials module.

"The systems we have been considering so far, featured some functionalities that we have either found to significantly mismatch our expectations or the bidders were not willing to manifest creative approach to their elimination. Only the proposal presented by Hogart has met our expectations practically in 100% - it matched the corporate hardware and system platforms and did not contain the functional overhead so typical in case of large solutions. Simplicity of the solution and intuitive interface excellently match both our current and future needs. Ease of use and easy manageability of application allow for decrease not only of basic cost of ownership of the system, but also of the costs of user training" - said Kazimierz LESNIAK, CIO at Pilkington Polska sp. z o.o.

Pilkington in Poland
Pilkington Polska Sp. z o.o. - float glass production. In 1990 negotiations have commenced with the Ministry of Industry concerning establishment of joint venture with HSO Sandomierz, owned by the State Treasury. HSO Sandomierz had two Pittsburgh type ovens for production of drawn glass; it produced integrated glass panes, automotive glazing and limited quantities of tempered glass. At that time the company employed 1650 staff. The agreement was signed in September 1993 - establishing Pilkington Sandoglass Sp. z o.o. Currently Pilkington owns 100% of its stock. Construction of the new factory begun in Spring 1994 and fourteen months later the first Polish float glass factory was ready. It began production in June 1995, while both drawn glass production lines were closed down in succession. At that time the integrated glass pane production was moved to Pilkington IGP, and the glass tempering process was limited only to basic products.

Currently, in addition to float glass, the company manufactures laminated glass for construction industry. Pilkington Polska was the first Polish flat glass manufacturer to obtain ISO 9002 and ISO 14001 Certificates. On 1 of August 2001 the company has changed its name to Pilkington Polska Sp. z o.o.
